    Thanks to the William B. Dessner Memorial Fund, hundreds of people were able to pay for health care expenses not covered by insurance which include the cost of transportation to and from dialysis, over-the-counter medicines,  co-payments and other medical needs.

    The Robert I. Schattner Foundation made leadership gifts to improve the health and well-being of kidney patients and populations at-risk for kidney disease in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland by supporting AKF's Summer Enrichment Program benefitting children and teens, our Safety Net Program, and our kidney disease prevention programming.

    The John and Maria Laffin Trust

    The John and Maria Laffin Trust was created under the Will of Valentina Laffin in honor of her parents. A generous benefactor with great foresight set up a testamentary trust supporting the Clinical Science in Nephrology Program (CSN) to honor her parents. AKF's CSN Program aims to drive innovation in postdoctoral nephrology education and help attract young scholars to choose careers in clinical research.
