  • With support from the Sievers Family Charitable Fund, AKF is strengthening its efforts to reduce barriers and financial hardships that could prevent potential living donors from making the gift of life." 

    Sieves Family Charitable Fund

    Support from the Sievers Family Charitable Fund provides financial assistance related to living kidney transplants occurring at Washington, D.C. metropolitan area hospitals.

  • While AKF is the only nonprofit organization specifically providing unrestricted financial assistance to kidney patients nationwide, this vital program addresses a growing need locally.

    Jeffrey Liss

    Jeffrey Liss provided support for AKF's Safety Net Program, providing increased access to lifesaving care for eligible low-income dialysis and transplant patients, nearly all under or uninsured. Patients use these funds to cover critical needs such as transportation to and from medical appointments, prescription medication and co-pays, mobility aids, home hemodialysis, medical supplies, and food.

  • The Clinical Scientist in Nephrology program has trained some of nephrology's brightest scholars who have gone on to become leaders in the field and mentors to new generations of scientists studying kidney disease.

    Anthony and Connie Kreif

    Grant funds were used to help fund a research fellow based in the high-need, high-demand specialty field of nephrology. Fellows conduct research at the nation's premier research universities, where their discoveries ultimately improve the quality of care provided to 35 million kidney patients locally and globally.
