Anemia chat: Understanding anemia of CKD
Healthy kidneys filter waste and extra fluid from your body, but that is not their only job. When you have kidney disease and your kidneys do not work as well as they should, your kidneys may not be able to help your body make red blood cells. Anemia happens when there are not enough healthy red blood cells in your body.
Anemia is a common complication of kidney disease, especially for people on dialysis. It can make you feel extra weak or tired, and it gets worse as your kidney disease gets worse. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to manage your anemia that may help you feel better.
In this webinar, Dr. Jay Wish, a nephrologist and anemia expert, will discuss anemia of CKD, why it happens and how to manage it in your daily life.
