Patrick Gee, Ph.D.
Dr. Patrick Gee, Ph.D., is a relentless advocate for change. With a deep-rooted passion for justice, he is dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers that perpetuate poverty, social and racial injustices, and the need for criminal justice reform. Driven by his personal experience as a former Peritoneal Dialysis and In-Center Hemodialysis patient and now a Post-Kidney Transplant recipient, Patrick understands the dire consequences of Diabetic Kidney Disease firsthand. This propelled him to found iAdvocate, a faith-based health and wellness organization that empowers underserved communities of color.
Drawing from his extensive background as Chief of Security/Corrections Major at the Virginia Department of Corrections, Patrick founded P. Gee Consulting, LLC. Here, he lends his expertise to law, security, policy development and implementation, and, most importantly, health equity. Armed with a Doctor of Philosophy in Justice, Law, & Criminology from American University, Patrick is a force to be reckoned with in the fight for equality.
As a patient advocate, Patrick travels across the country, sharing his lived experience with medical providers, pharmaceutical companies, researchers, and fellow patients. His goal is simple yet profound – to create access to a better quality of life, equitable care, and effective treatments for those battling diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, hypertension, and health disparities.
Patrick's leadership extends beyond his advocacy work. He chairs the Kidney Health Initiative's Patient Family Partnership Council, represents the American Society of Nephrology as a member of the Diabetic Kidney Disease-Collaborative Task Force, and chairs the Quality Insights Network 5 Patient Family Advisory Committee. His contributions are recognized globally, as he serves as a Patient Representative for the World Health Organization's Guideline Development Group for Living Guideline on Therapeutics and COVID-19.
In 2022, Patrick was honored with the ASN's President's Medal for his outstanding advocacy in the kidney community. But his impact extends beyond the medical field. As an Ordained Elder at Mountain Mover's Ministry, Patrick brings his unwavering dedication to justice and equality to every aspect of his life.
Patrick Gee is not just a voice; he is the voice of the voiceless. He is the face of the faceless in the fight against kidney disease and health injustice. Join him in his mission to create a world where everyone has equal access to health and well-being.
