John Hanley is a Managing Director at UBS Private Wealth Management in Washington, DC., where his team advises Ultra High Net Worth individuals and select non-profit organizations. Hanley has 30 years of experience in the financial markets as a business correspondent and as an investment advisor. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Washington.
Prior to joining UBS in October 2020, Hanley was with Goldman Sachs for 16 years and with Morgan Stanley for 4 years. Hanley was previously with Reuters in New York and London for nearly a decade, reporting on the commodities, equities and capital markets, and rising to the position of Deputy Editor, Corporate News. His undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and he received an MBA from Duke University with a concentration in finance.
Hanley attained the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. He and his wife, Amy, have three daughters and live in Alexandria, Virginia.
