Trustee Emeritus
Gail Wick serves is as Trustee Emeritus of the American Kidney Fund (AKF) Board of Trustees. She is also an AKF representative for Kidney Care Partners (KCP) and serves on the Community Advisory Committee for Highland-Cashiers Hospital, as well as serves as the chair of the Vision Cashiers Health and Wellness Task Force in North Carolina.
Although retired, Ms. Wick remains active in ESRD-related issues by serving on various national volunteer committees focused on ESRD-related care, quality and policy issues. Previously, she served as vice president for nursing services at DaVita, Inc., where she was responsible for nursing manpower, care and practice for more than 540 dialysis facilities throughout the United States. Ms. Wick also held several high-level positions at Fresenius Medical Care North America, including vice president of quality management, clinical practice, technical services and regulatory affairs; vice president of corporate marketing and communications; and vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning.
In addition to serving as president of the American Nephrology Nurses Association both in 1987-88 and 2002-2003 and involvement in numerous other organizations, Ms. Wick has published over 50 articles and chapters in professional journals and textbooks. She has given over 600 presentations in the United States and internationally.
Ms. Wick received her M.S. in health services administration from St. Joseph's College, B.S. in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, cum laude, and her nursing diploma from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia.
