Sexual health, sexuality, and kidney disease

Sexual health may not be discussed openly or frequently in the kidney disease community, however it is an extremely important topic across all groups of people. For some, starting a conversation with a doctor about sexual health can feel awkward or uncomfortable. Join us for an honest talk about sexual health, sexuality, and kidney disease where you can ask your questions privately and anonymously, or simply listen.

Dr. Toby Gottheiner, an experienced nephrologist, and Emily Watson, a renal social worker, will team together to discuss common sexual dysfunctions in the general population versus the kidney disease population, factors that affect sexual function, and approaches that address sexual dysfunction for people with kidney disease.

Topics you can expect Dr. Gottheiner and Ms. Watson to address include:

  • Sexual function and dysfunction in the general population
  • Sexual dysfunction in men and women with chronic kidney disease and on dialysis
  • Physical and psychological factors affecting sexual dysfunction in kidney disease
  • Treatment approaches to sexual dysfunction in kidney disease
